Niz Ali

CCS Disability Action/Te Pou

My name is Niz and I am 27-years-old. I have been immersed in the world of disability for as long as I can remember.

I have a muscle deteriorating condition called Muscular Dystrophy, which means my wheels are basically my legs, but that without doubt hasn’t stopped me from completing school regardless of many doubts, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Practicegraduating university with an Award for Courage in Adversity, going through the tedious job seeking process before becoming a Community Support Coordinator on the Youth and Adults Team at CCS Disability Action, and moving out of home, all while trying to fight my own every day demons and wiseacre attitudes to everything.

I’ve seen the best and worst of human behaviour, and I’ve been the best and worst person.

I’ve always been passionate about disability issues because of my own experiences, so this project is close to my heart.
